SACRED CONCERT

A concert was given laat evening in the Oddfellows' Hall by the children attending tho United Methodist Free --Church Sabbath Schools, in Sfc Asaph street, Bingsiand, and Colombo road. The stage had been specially arranged for tho accommodation of the children, and when the curtain waa drawn up the effect was exceedingly pleasing. A very auitable programme had been selected, the various chorusca being taken with commendable precision, under the conductorship of Mr Vowles. The following items wero also contributed: — Song, "The Infant's Prayer," Mrs Corrick ; song and chorus, " Over tho River," Miss Cooke j eong, "To the Woods," Mi-3 Corrick ; duet, " Scatter tho Germs," the Misßes Langford. Among the other pleasing selections of the programme, which were excellently given, may be specially mentioned the boy's whistle chorus — "Whistle and Hoe," which was loudly applauded. The audience presen tnumbered about 300, who seemed well pleased at the efforts of the children. Miss Cooke presided at [the piano, and Mr T. Searell at the harmonium, Mr W. S. Smith assisting with the doublo bass. The proceeds of tho concert will be devoted in aid of the United Schools Fund.
