KAIAPOI ELECTION.
The nomination of candidates for the representation of Kaiapoi in the General Assembly took place at noon to-day. The Returning Officer, G. L. Mellish, Esq., R.M., having read the writ, called upon any elector of the district present to propose a candidate. Mr J. Studholme was then duly proposed and seconded, and as no other candidate wns brought forward, he was declared to be duly elected. Mr Studholme thanked the elect ->rs for this renewed expression of their confidence, and the proceedings terminated with the usual vote of thanks to the Returning Officer.
