QITY OF AUCKLAND. SPECIAL ORDER MAKING BY-LAWS, NO. 8. ' Public Notice is hereby given that at the Ordinary Meeting of the Auckland City Coun- cil, to be held in the Council Chamber, Coburg street, ©n THURSDAY, the 7th day of November, 1907, at 6.3 1 o'clock p m., a Resolution will be submitted for the Con- firmation of the following Special Order, made at a Special Meeting «.f the said Council on the 10th day of October, 1907., viz. :— "That the Auckland City Council doth hereby, by Special Resolution, in- tended to operate as a Special Order make the following By-laws, to be known as By-laws No. 8, viz. :— (Here follow the By Laws.)" The object or purport of the said By-laws is as follows : — 1. To interpret various words and expres- sions contained therein. 2. To provide penalties for "any breach of the same. 3. To prevent the use of any tram ca or any tramway unless such tram car is licensed. 4 To prevent unlicensed persons driving or conducting any tram car. 5. To provide a scale of fees for Motorman's, Conductor's, and Tram Car licenses, such fees to be paid to the Council. 6. To specify the nature and contents of each license : (a) to be for one person or one tram <ar only ; (b) to state the full name and abode of the licensee ; (c) to specify the maximum -number of passengers to be carried on a tram ■car, whether, on top, inside seated, or stand- ing ; (d) to titate the licensed number of the tram car; (c) to define the currency of the license. 7. To require any licensee changing his place ■of abode to notify the same for endorsation of license. 8. To provide for a licensed motorman acting as conductor without haviag a separate license as a conductor. 9. To provide for suspension or cancellation of a license for a breach of the by-laws or other unfitness 10. To prevent a. licensee altering, erasing, ■defacing, lending, or parting with his license. 11. To provide (a) for each application for a license being made on a requisition form provided by the Council; (b) for the pro- 'auction of a tramcar for inspection before ■being licensed, and, if licensed, for the issue ■of a tiofeet bearing 5 the licensed number of the tramcar^ and the number of passengers it is licensed to carry; (c) for such ticket b ing affixed to the tramcar and for the licensed number of the tramcar being legibly painted thereon ; and (d) to prevent such number and *»cket -being" concealed, defaced, altered, obliterated, or removed while the tramcar is licensed.
