ROCKY NOOK.
This district is going ahead— the latest sign being the extension of the telegraph wires to the establishment of an enterprising tradesman whose foot is on his native scoria and whose name's Macgregor. Another healthy symptom here is the number of new buildings going up. There never were empty houses here in the dullest of times, and now this popular suburb is the first to advance in population and prosperity. Fresh paint is to be seen everywhere. Mr Edwin Baker, second son of the local Lord of the Manor, left on Monday for Wellington. The young man was very popular here. There i 3 dulness in several circles since the Orlando ' boys ' have gone ; but some of them have promised to write from England, and to come back to Auckland on the first opportunity.
