Fatal 'Cycle Accident.
EIDING WITHOUT A BRAKE.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, November 14,
A fatal bicycle accident, resulting in the death of a man named John Robertson, occurred on Island Bay Road yesterday afternoon. Robertson, who is a builder by ccsupation, and had only arrived from Nelson, -(where he resided) by the s.s. Penguin the previous evening, was riding down the hill on the road, when the machine, which did not carry a brake, took control and ran away with him. Being only a, learner, he was unable to steer ib.3 bicycle, and it crashed with tremendous force into a telegraph pole at the side of the road, the unfortunate fellow sustaining a fearful fracture of the skull, which must 1 avj caused instantaneous death. Robertson, who was about 37 years of age, leaves a wife and family. His body is to be sent to Nelson.
