Serously ill.—Private Takaroka. Correction.—Previously reported by unit ki.led in action, September 15th, how reported we'll and with headquarters of Second Anzacs. —John James Ryan (Henley). Mr T. Arscott (Tiraara Gas Works), last evening received word that his grandson, Ralph Watson, was killed in action on the 21st. He was a member of the Aitlley arm and left with the 9th Reinforcements. He was a very young soldier as he spent his 18th birthday in Egypt. He had been about six months in France. A step-brother of his named Everett was yest rJay reported wounded. Private James A. Webb (wounded), is a son of Mr J. Webb, Springbrook, St. Andrews. He was educated at the Springbrook School, and war. the first boy from that distrct to join the colours. Ho was fond of all kinds of sport and was a. very keen cyclist. He was also a first rate shot and ivas a successful competitor at all tlie local Rifle Club competitions, lie enlisted with the" Bth Southland Regiment and left NeAv Zealand with the 7th Reinforcements. ' . . Mr Anthony Kane, of Oraigic Avenue, Tima-ru, has received word that his son. Private V. Kan*, who was wounded in the chest is now in Brockenhurst Hospital. England, and is t>rogre-=s : ng 'favourably. Private WiU'am J. Loper. wounded, is a' Waimate man, 32 years of age. He wont with the Third Reinforcements and was six months at Gallipoli, and up to September 28 had escaped without a. s-ratoh. although a younger brother, who left New Zealand w'th the Now Zea'nnd Rifle T-f----gado, was wounded and dird after only .a (W months' fighting. _ Rifleman Arthur J. Bud, killed m action in France on SenteirW 15, was the third surviving son of "Mrs Joseph B'rd, Wairoate, and was a printer by trad"'. He left New Zealand with the Ist Battalion of the New Zealand Rifle Briaade and took part in the fighting agauist the Sennssi in-Egypt last CKvi'stmas Day. Later Ik- was sent to Ze-'+mrn to 'n hnmh-throwiiwr, and from tlic'n tH the time of bis was in +he bombing battalion. His. brother James was lost in the Marquette last year.
