MOTUEKA.
In the Cricket Association's competitions six senior teams have entered, vis;., "Wliakarewii Lower Moutore, Dovedale, Motueka, Brooklyn, and Upper Moutere.
Tho fixtures for Saturday, September 30th, are Motueka and Dovedale at Motucka, Whakurewa and Upper Moutere at Moutere, Lower Moutere v. Brooklyn at Lower Moutere.
Eight junior teams have entered and tho fixtures for October 7tli are as follows, the games to bo played on the ground of the club that is first mentioned : Neudorf v. Star, Lower Moutere v. Pokororo, Whakarewa v. Dovedale, Motucka v. Ngatimoti.
Messrs L. Canton and L. Heath, of the Ngatimoti team, and nine members of the Star Club, were re-instated as juniors.
Messrs Brown Bros., the well known jewellers, have purchased a frontage section in High street, next to Messrs Kaston and Nicholson, solicitors. Tho finm intend erecting a thoroughly up-to-date shop, and the fittings will be cf the latest city style, consisting of plato glass shelving, etc., and other necessary fittings.
A wedding which caused considerable interest locally was celebrated at St Thomas' Church, Motueka, on September 20th, the contracting parties being Mr. Henry Alexander Turrnut. eldest son of the late Mr. H. A. Tarrant, of Lower Msniterc, and Jlisr Laura Julia Xc ling, youngest daughter of the late .\!r/C!nrles V. C. Kc] ling, of Broadlands, Upper Moutere. The bride, who was given away by here brother, wore a grey tailor-made cos tunic and cream toque, and carried r lovely shower bouquet. The brides maid, Miss Kathleen Kelling, niece of the bride, wore a blue voile dross, with hnf to match. Mr. Pierce C. Tarrant of IToropito, acted as host man. Tlu ceremony was performed by the Yon erable Archdeacon Baker, of Brightwaiter, and Mrs. Anderson, organist, presided at the organ. After thp ceremony a reception was held at tho resiilunep of tho bride's mother, Uppc Moutere. The presents were both numerous and costly. After the reeention, the happy couple left for tlioir future home at Bestport.
