ALL NIGHT IN A TOWER.
r Two visitors to the New Brighton Tower grounds, on the Cheshire side of tlie Mersey, carried away with them somewhat unpleasant .recollections of that pleasure resort. When the first lift ascended to the top of the tower at ten o'clock on Wednesday morning (September Bth) the attendant was astonished to see a woman and her twelve-year-old daughter walk into tlie lift for tho purpose of descending. The two had been on the top of the tower since half-past nine the previous evening. It is customary beforo the descent of the last lift to givo an intimation to that effect to anyone who may be on the tower summit. This was done but apparently the woman and her daughter did not hear ifc, and they passed unnoticed when tlie usu.il round of inspection was made previous to the final lift going down. | I 1 Hiding themselves unable to make I known thoir plight to others sonic j 600 feet be-low, they made themselves \ as comtortable as possible in the covered in portion of the tower top. ; AVheii they were rescued from their : position, thoy took their experienco quite philosophically, merely complaining that they had spent a cold, sleepless night, and leaving the tower grounds without oven giving their names to the officials. i
