The Child Murder.

[By Telegraph.] Wanqanoi, May 1. The jury in the case of Phoebe Veitch, tried for child murder, a turned ai 11.15 last night with a verdict of " Guilty," and a recommendation to mercy. His Honor the Chiof Justice assumed the black cap, and sentenced the prisoner to death. It had been previously stated by prisoner's counsel that she was pregnant, and this morning a jury of matrons was empanaelled. A medical man was called in, and after about an hour's deliberation the matrons stated thatall a but one agreed as to their verdict. His Honor stated that there must be unanimity, and after further retirement the matrons gave a verdict that to the bast of their belief sha was pregnant. His Honor said prisoner would be respited till the criminal sessions in October, and he would communicate the recommendation of the jury to the Governor.
