Age of Sires and Dams
Influence on Offspring From investigations conducted by the Animal Breeding Kesearch Department of fcjie University of Edinburgh to discover whether calves sired by old bulls, or out of old cows, were in any way inferior to those whose parents were both young, it was determined that the parents' age in no way affects the inherent quality of the offspring. It was found, however, that the age of the parents of by far the greater number of show prize-winners was four years or under at the time of birth of those winners. This was especially marked in the case of bulls. J
