Paparoa Golf Ball.
Considerable consternation was caused among those responsible for the arrangements at the Paparoa Golf Club's ball on Friday night, when three cars, one containing the orchestra, and two others carrying gear required for the evening, went off the road at various times between eight and eight-thirty. Fortunately for all concerned, no damage was done, but the ball secretary is alleged to have lost half a stone in weight in a very short time.
The ball itself was an outstanding success, although a number of counter attractions during the week made the attendance rather smaller than was anticipated. The hall was very tastefully decorated, and the fact that the power is now installed gave the organisers additional scope for lighting effects, and they had spared no pains to transform the hall into a veritable fairyland.
