BALL AT WELLSFORD.

A grand plain and fancy dress ball was held in Wellsford on October 8. Prizes were presented to the two most popular costumes, ladies voting for gentlemen and vice versa.

Miss E. Worker as " War " won the .ladies' prize by a very large majority. Mr Jack Davis as a Gordon Highlander, winning the gentlemen's. Following is an account of: costumes worn:— Mrs Phippen, 1914. Miss Williams, Folly.' Miss Armitage, Schoolgirl. Miss Beeroft, Hockey girl. Miss Woods, Night. Miss Connell, Sporting girl. Miss Smythe, Yachting girl. Miss B. Smythe, Ancient Briton. Miss J. Woods, Sunflower. Miss A. Worker, Suffragette. Miss Noedl, Texan Scout. Mr Noecll, Clown. Mr F. Davies, Dandy. Mr Armitage, Old Eoglish Knight Mr J. Armitage, Cricket. Mrs Connell, very pretty cream silk Mrs Bernard, cream dress, silver net trimmings.

Mrs Palmer, sea-green silk, silver trimmings. Mrs Smith, cream Japanese silk. Mrs Sutton, cream voile. , Mrs Currie, navy blue silk. Mrs Horan, black broche silk. Mrs Worker, navy blue voile. Mrs Ballance, black silk. Miss Kamsbottom, black silk voile. Miss Woods, cream dress, silver trimmings.
