The Churches of Christ, Northern Union, preachers' plan for the current quarter has, owing to unforseen circumstances, had to be attered' considerably in regard to the preachers taking the services, .but the original appointments as to times and places will be adhered to. Mr Jinks who was expected to arrive in this district has been prevented from leaving Australia, and Mr Drury will take his place until further notice. The weekly advertisement in this paper will give the correct appointments.
The "Vyarkworth Pioneer Lodge M.U.1.Q.0.F., held a special summoned meeting in tha Masonic Hall, on Monday evening, May 26th, the P.O. secretary, Bro. McLeod, presiding, and there was a good number m attendance including two district officers in Bros. McLeod (who ia provincial eorrespondsecretary) and Matthews (the district book examiner and auditor appointed under the Friendly Societies Act). After the lodge business was over the district officers were entertained by the lodge officers to a nicely laid out up"per prepared by Mr Follett, to which all present dose justice. The visiting officers returned by boat to Auckland on Tuesday morning.
The Warkworth Oddfellows' lodge gave an invitation dance in the Town Hall last Wednesday ovening, when, although the weather was none too inviting, there was an attendance of about 140 guests. Messrs T. Burke, C. Gathercole, S. D. McPherson and Leo. Buckton acted as floor stewards, and Mr Sam. Stringer provided the music on the piano,. Miss Jackson playing an extra at the supper imterval. Members of the lodge (amoa^st whom are now several ladies) wore their regalia. An ample arid substantial 'Supper was provided. The. dance, was most enjoyable throughout, and functions of its class are calculated to popularise the lodge amongst those invited to attend.
Three fishermen bold went out to sea on Saturday afternoon and caught 140 fish.

The weather has been somewhat milder but the winter is generally, feared owimg to the small amount of growth in the autumn. Previously after a dry summer, grass has come away well in the autumn. Speaking* to Mr Rikys on Monday, he say« on some of the northern hills the grass has not grown two inches after the breaking of the dr«ught.
Mr Holder of Pakiri is leading all the coal prospecfors, for a bbring plant is operating on his farm. Preparations are in hand-to celebrate the jubilee' of Puhoi settlement* June the 30th is f.io day. There are a few tickets available for ".the''banquet'. They can be: procured from Mr E. Schischka.
