RAILWAY COLLISION.
BROUGH, THE ACTOR, INJURED. LONDON, January 19. — The Glasgow and London express, following on, collided with the Leeds-London express at Cudworth (Yorkshire) during a fog. A third express from^ London dashed into the wreckage. ,<& The Glasgow* 5 express took fire. Mr Robert B. Brough, the well-known actor, received some severe burns. The accident originated through the Leeds express becoming derailed. January 20. The guard of the goods train on an adjacent siding noticed that the signals indicated that the line was clear for the London-Scottish express. By means of fog signals and warning, the driver" of the wrecked Leeds express warned the driver of the approaching express, who, applying his brake, stopped just as his train- grazed the -wreckage. Mr Brough, the actor, was terribly burned. The Glasgow express was travelling -with two engines at 60 miles an hour. In the dense fog the signals were unobserved, and the train dashed into the Leeds-Sheffield express. Both were telescoped' and caught fire. One of the Glasgow train's engines rolled over the other. Six carriages of the Glasgow train caught fire, and five passengers, the fireman, and the guard were killed, while 15 were injured — seven seriously.
