Her propelling machinery consists of two sets of 4-crank triple-expansion engines, balanced on the Yarrow, Schlick, and Tweady eystem, each set driving a three-bladed bronze propeller, made of a special mixture, so as to reduce the surface friction of the blades to a minimum. The boilers are designed for a .working pressure of 1801b, and are arranged to work under forced draught on Howden's system. The machinery will be capable of propelling the vessel when fully loaded at a regular speed of 14 knots.
