BAUER AND M'LAUGHLIN.
The Becond wrestling match between Colonel J. H. M'Laughlin of Detroit and Thiebaud Bauer of New York came off in Detroit on April 10th, at Whitney's Opera House, before over 1000 spectators. The stakes $500 a side and door money. Harry Hill of New York was referee, and the conditions of the match were : One fall collar and elbow style, Becond fall Greco-Roman style, and* the character of the third fall to be determined by a toss, the previous styles being excluded. M'Laughlin won the first fall in twelve minutes, throwing Bauer at the close with apparent ease. The second fall was won by Bauer in seven minutes, after a spirited struggle between the two men on their knees. For the third fall the toss was won by Bauer, who chose the catch-as-catch-can-style. In five minutes McLanghlin had him on his back, after a spirited struggle, and thus won the match. — Cincinnati Commercial.
Greco-Roman Wrestling. — The residents of Chicago were treated to a display of Greco-Roman wrestling on the evening of Saturday, April 21st. The contestants were Marchando, who has gained some notoriety at this kind of sport, and an antagonist who had the sobriquet of the " Masked Man" conferred on him, owing to the upper portion of hia face being
enveloped in a fine wire domino. The first fall waa won by Marchando, who threw his opponent over his shoulder, landing him fairly on his back. The Unknown succeeded in getting the next fall, putting his antagonist on the floor by a back-hold. In the third and last bout the Frenchman proved his superiority by quickly placing his adversary hors de combat: The whole match was of very short duration, not lasting over half an hour. ' '.' Pigeon Shooting.— lra A Paine, celebrated pigeon shooter, and Mr Carr, an English shot, participated in a shooting match at the* Welsh Harp, Hendon, England, on April 10th. The conditions of the contest were that they should shoot two trials at small birds, the first being 15 birds, 21 yards. The second waa at a like distance, but the birds were only 10 in number. The first bout was all in favour of the American, he killed 8 to his antagonist's 5. In the second part of the match Mr Carr turned the tables upon his opponent by scoring 6 birds to 5. Professor William Miller offers to wrestle Bauer in three weeks for $200 and the championship, the winner of the largest number of falls in a stated number I of hours to be the victor.
