THE INSANITY OF PROPHESY.
A Kentucky editor is extensively quoted as follows regarding some recent predictions by the Second.Adrentists We've lost interest enough m the prophesy business. We got fooled m this very thing once before some crank made us believe the end of the world was coming m February, 1881 We sold our overcoat, and bought a lot of thin linen stuff, and had it made up into what the prophet called "ascension robes." We put on one of these robes, and looked every minute for the end to come, jabbing us into eternity. We even climbed up to the housetop to be nearer the skies when it did come. We looked m vain for the end. Oar neighbours laughed at us. We were on earth yet. We were fined for wearing such clothes m daytime m public. We caught a cold, and had. a case of pneumonia which cost a big doctor's bill. No, Mr Prophet, we've! fijne with the "end." of the world."
