"MOTHER GOOSE"

Notwithstanding the heavy rain there was a good audience at the Criterion Theatre on Wednesday night to

witness the pantomime " Mother Goose." The performance was more of a vaudeville character than the pantomime proper as we know it. In any

case however, it was entertaining and kept the audience in a merry mood from the rise of the curtain till its final fall. It must be said that " King Cole," as played by Mr Will Rayner, was a masterpiece ot acting, as also was the acting of Jimmy Gerald as " Mother Goose." These two gentlemen stand out in a class by themselves as vaudeville stars, and without them the " Mother -Goose " pantomime would fall very flat indeed. ,

"Boy Blue," by Miss Essie Jennings, caused much amusement, while Miss Rosie Coleman, as v Little Red. Riding Hood, " and Miss Carmen Coleman as "Jonny Stout" were good supporters, The other members of the Company have very little to say or do, but their gorgeous dresses added very much to Ihe delight of the audience. During the evening a collection was made in aid of the Wounded Soldiers' fund and a sum of .£4 los yd was handed over to the cause.
