A Sportsman, Too

A WELL-KNOWN figure m the legal circles of the capital city is Matthew Oliver Barnett, son of the popular Christchurch sportsman and bowler, Mat. Barnett. Matthew the younger gained most of his legal experience with that firm so closely associated with the legal history of the Dominion — Bell, Gully, Mackenzie and O'Leary — and some months ago hung up his own brass plate m Featherston Street. M.0.8. follows m his progenitor's footsteps m that he is keenly interested m all forms of sport and although an accident some years back inflicted such injuries to a leg as to prevent active participation m the more energetic games, young Mat still enjoys a round of golf and is an ardent motorist. Lacking that aggressiveness so often found — yet so little required — m a lawyer's make-up, he possesses a pleasing manner along with a knowledge of the law and its mysterious workings which will lead him along the road to success.
