The Hawaiians

MORE than' two years ago E. J. Carroll caused a sensation m the theatrical world by engaging Kaai's Hawaiian Troubadours for a long tour of Australia and New Zealand. There were many who predicted failure, but as it happens the tour has been a phenomenal success. Wellington music lovers will be pleased to know that Ernest Kaai and his company of talented Hawaiians are returnln'g with their new programme to the Grand Opera House; Wellington, a limited season commencing 'next Saturday, November 12. It does not matter much whether you take your wife or your conscience —or both— to -Honolulu.

There, are charms m the tropical moonlight and the eyes of the Hula Hula girls which have the gentle intoxication of the kava drink and make you forget all encumbrances; even the bank overdraft. Better a beachcomber m the Pacific than a gum digger m the north. Anyhow, that's the idea you get from these merry Islanders, who nightly bring a few hours of Hawaiian gladness, music and warmth to New Zealand audiences.
