THE PRACTICAL HOME PHYSICIAN." A GUIDE for the HOUSEHOLD MANAGEMENT OF DISEASE — giving ihe Cause, Symptoms, and Treat- ment of all Diseases of Men, Women, and Children, written in plain English by the following Medical Men, whose fame is world-wide :— H. M. LYMEN, A.M., M.D. C. FENGER, A.M., M.D. H. W. JONES, A.M., M.D., W. T. BELFIBLD, A.M., M.D. The work has been highly recommended by the leading Physi- cians of London and Edinburgh, as well as those of the colonies. From the many in our possession we insert the following :—: — Dnnedin, May 16, 1884. Dear Sir — I write to inform yoa that lam of opinion that " The Practical Home Physician, a Popular Guide for the Household Management of Disease," IS THE BEST BOOK EVEtt PUB. LISHED ON POPULAR MEDICAL SCIENCE, and sbould be of inestimable value to people living in the country, who cannot pro* cure the personal attendance of a medical adviser. H. W. Matosell, M.D. Lawrence, May 10, 1884. Dear Sir— l have read "The Practical Home Physician " with some care, and I have iiO hesitation in sajing that it is" the best work of the kind that I have come across yet. * My many friends through- out Otago and other Provinces will know that I must have read a good many different medical works, but I regret that t did not h&re your work while writing the "Health Column" for the Otago Witness. The information contained in the book covers all diseases that well could come under home ireatment. I should be extremely I pleased to sec the book in every household, for its value is far beyond its price, and the information which it contains is so simple and complete that parents reading the book carefully would be lc6S liable to place themselves and their children under the hands of the doctors. I have no hesitation in strongly recommending all who can afford it to take a copy of the -work, or to combine with their neigh- bours and get it. 1 was pressed from all quarters to publish in book from the " Health Column," but now that is unnecessary when I a most comprehensive work like yours is available. Trusting that your efforts to place the means of better health within the reach of all may have the success that tlie effort deserves. I rem&in, yours very truly, F. A. J. Db Conde, Writer of the " Health Column " in the Otago Witness. Among others, the following distinguished Medical men have allowed us to use their names in connection with the work :— -Sir William Gull, Physician in Ordinary to the Queen ; Sir William Pagett, London ; Andrew Clark, Middlesex Hospital ; Hermann Weber, Physician to German Hospital, London ; T. Spencer Wells Surgeon to the Queen's Household ; Patrick Heron Watson, Mem' Counc. 8.C.5., Edinburgh ; William Walker, Oculist to Her Majesty' Scotland. *.*> For further particulars see circular, or address, HARVEY AND BAIKJE, Dunedin P.O.

About the computer-generated text

Optical Character Recognition (OCR) is a process for automatically extracting text from scanned pages. OCR enables searching of large quantities of full-text data, but it is not 100% accurate. The level of accuracy depends on the print quality of the original newspaper and its condition at the time of microfilming. Newspapers with poor quality paper, small print, mixed fonts, multiple column layouts or damaged pages may have poor OCR accuracy.

The page where this item appears has an estimated OCR accuracy of 96.63%.
