ROLL OF HONOUR UNVEILED.
INSET ,*IN LION ROOK AT PIHA. A "roll of." honour and memorial tablet on Lion Rock at Piha was unveiled on Saturday afternoon before a large gathering of residents. Mr. H. Kmxtren, manager of the State sawmill, performed the ceremony. The tablet is in memory of employees of the sawmill , who took pari in the war and actually left for camp when* in the employ of the mill. The white marble tablet bears the names of 50 men.,lß of whom have been killed and 24 wounded. It is inset in the base of the rock,' which is 450 ft in height, and is stirrounded by- water at high tide. The ladies' of Piha paid a tribute to the memory of the diem who had made the supreme sacrifice by placing a wreath at the base of the tablet. In the evening a welcome social *;ras held in honour of the men of tb 6 district who have returned from the front.
