A REMARKABLE COLLISION.

In the Admiralty Division, an aotion brought by the' owners of the steamship Rumney against the owners of the French steamship Frigorifique, in respeet of a collision whioh occurred in the Bay of Bisoay on the 19 th Maroh last, was decided. There wai a thick fog prevailing at the time, and the collision resulted in the loss of both vessels. The stem of the Rumney eame in contact with tho starboard quarter of tbe Frigorifique. Tho two vessels remained in oollision for a short time, during which the crew of the French steamer jumped on board the Rumney; and . the Frigorifique, whose engines were still going ahead, disappeared in the fog. The boata of tne Rumney were lowered and while alongside, the Frigorifique, whioh had made a circuit in the fog, again hove in sight, and before any steps oould be taken to get oat of her way she ran into the starboard quarter of the Rnowey, causing her to sink immediately. The two crews, in the boats of the. Rumney, then gave chase- to the Frigorifique, which, the fog having lifted, wa» seen to be steaming round and round iu •"circle. . After some time they succeeded in board in? her, and her engines were stopped, but shortly, afterwards she also sank: from the damage she had sustained. The in giving judgmont, said that the elder brethren were unable to say, as a matter ot seamanship, that there was negligence on either side. He (the learned judge) found that neither side had discharged the onus ot proving negligence ob tho other, and he therefore pronounced againat both the claim and the counter-claim, bating each party to bear their own costs.
