THE UNIVEHSITY EXAMINATIONS.
The following are the results of the entrance examinations of the University held in December l!=S:j. at which ISO candidates presented themselves : — Junior scholarship, gained by Annie Forbes, Girls' High School Dunediu : Alfred li. Meek, Wellington College ; Francis B. Allen, Boys' School, Dunedin ; Mary A. Freey, Dunedin ; Beatrice Gibson, Girls' High School, Christchurch ; Alfred G. Talbot, Nelson College ; John K. Montgomery, Boys' High School, Dunediu, and Margaret Lorimer, Girls' High School, Christchurch. Preliminary medical examinations passed by W. G. Trotter, lnvercargill ; W. Dermer, \V. Chappel, J. G. A. Copcland, Dunedin; and G. Grant, Wanganui. Of 112 who passed matriculation 35 were from Otago, l'J from Canterbury, 20 from Auckland, 13 from Wellington, 11 from Nelson, 6 from Invercargill, and S from Timaru. The followine were from Auckland :—J. W. Stewart, D. lleldrum, E. H, Cox, T. P. Burton, D. E. Fraser, S. Mulgau, C. F. Keid, C. Cockertou, R. McPherson, A. Currie, H. B. Mackay, C. Westwood, A. Lawry, E. G. Eyburn, L. Durrieu, M Hill, and H. Schnackenberg ; C. Grant and C. Frost from Onehunga, and M. Lippiatt from Otahuhu.
