The boxing match between Ernie Rice (challenger) and Harry Mason (holder) for the Light-weight Championship of Europe and Britain, resulted in Mason being declared the winner on points.

Rice was always attacking, following Mason round the ring, but Mason, who wias the more skilful, led on points in early rounds. Rice then took command for some time. He floored Mason twice in the fourteenth round and once in the fifteenth, but afterwards Mason led to the twentieth round, when he wias floored and tqok a count of eight.
