A. AND P. ASSOCIATION'S BOOTHS.
License Restrictions
At the A. and P. Association meeting yesterday, when a report cams up for consideration from the Grounds Committee, recommending that the General > Committte deputationiso the Licensing Bench in regard to its refusal to grant conditional licenses for the ground to any publican outside the Licensing district, Mr Johnston said that to get ai tha root cf tho matter they must find out what they had received out of the booths for each of tho last three years. They should have good liquor, irrespective of what they might receive for the privileges. Of lale they had had a good man in Mr JUevino, who guarded against; drunkenness and providod good liquor,
The secretary reported that in 1001 JEI7O had been received for the privileges; in 1902 £170 ;in 1903 £102 8a; and in 1904 £110.
Mr Johnston saw no harm at all in waning on the Bench and asking for the removal of the conditions, but it was hardly fair to the publicans, while in Wanganui and elsewhere the same condition existed.
Mr Stevens was of opinion that they should look to themselves before considering the publicans. Mr fciafchelar moved that the report be adopted, and that the President and Vice-President wait on the Bench. The man who had been catering during the last few years was doing well, but the amount of the tenders was decreasing, and might continue to do so.
Tho report waa adopted, the deputation to consist of the President and Vice-President.
