Mr and Mrs J. Mounsey returned to Palmerston yesterday afternoon from a holiday trip to Rotorua and Auckland. The Hon. Jae. McGowan, M.L.C., who as at present on a visit to. Thames, is suffering from a severe attack of sciatica. His Excellency the Governor arrived at Wellington from the south this morning, and came on to Palmerston North by° the 7.50 a.m. express. The death occurred at Foxton yesterday of Mr William Doreen, a former resident of Longb'urn. Deceased was .aged 68 years. The General Manager of : Railways (Mr T Ronayne) will accompany the Hon. J.' The supporters -of the Ministry in Manawatu electorate have decided to .entertain Mr John Stevens, the late member, at a social, and present him with an illuminated address. Mr Frank Baden-Powell, accompanied by Mrs Baden-Powell (daughter of the late Mr James Watt, of Napier) were passengers by the Manuka, which reached Auckland on Monday from Sydney, en route to Napier. Mr Baden-Powell last visited New Zealand in 1902, during a tour round the world, covering 40,000 miles. He is a well-known painter and sculptor, and brother of Major BadenPowell. A reception was held after the ceremony at "Wargrave," the residence of the brides parents.
