Reports of an Anarchist plot to blow up the Chamber of Deputies have alarmed Paris, and the special guards are increased. An Irish tourist, Morglass, wa^ arrested on suspicion of designs to murder the President, but was liberated on the mistake being discovered. The Chamber of Deputies, by a narrow majority, rejected M. Cavaignac's Bill imposing a progress^ in come tax.
The Government afterwards insisted upon and obtained a strong vote of confidence.
The Fedeial Judge of the Argentine declares that the Extradition Treaty with Great Britain does not apply to Jabez Balfour. An Anarchist plot to destroy Toulon Arsenal has been frustrated.
Cholera has broken out in St. letersburg, and is spreading tp^.aijr alarming extent. The disease .&ยป-also broken out in the military barracks, and is raging with vim- lence among the soldiers. Cholera is spreading into Germany, and, despite tbe efforts of the sanitary authorities, grave fears are entertained that it will get beyond their control.
Amerioan Labour Troubles. The Chicago strikers oonspired to destroy the terminus of the Illinois Central Railway by means of dynamite. Railway traffic has been generally resumed.
