ATTEMPT AT SUICIDE.

Yesterday morning", as the up train was leaving Palmerston, a most deliberate attempt was made to commit suicide. The tiain was rouuding the bend just beyond the Terrace iind platform, when a man wa3 SOJH coining towards it. About six yards off, ho threw himself down upon tho lino, but was lifted by the cowcatcher, aud thrown out of tho way. Tho train was reversed as soon as pos9ible,aud on reaching him, the man was found to have sustained a severe gash under the arm. Ho was taken on to Feilding. When moved out of the train, a large quantity of blood gushed out of the wound, and tho man swooned away. We believe his name is Jans Peter Mokklesen. He is a Scandinavian.
