INTER ESTING MOTOR-CYCLE

TEST,

An interesting - motor-cycle test from Picton to Bluff—a. distance of 648 miles—was concluded at seven o'clock on Thursday night, says the Otago Daily Times, and revealed features of pluck and endurance on the part of the rider, Mr E. F. Hinds, of Christchurch. He had a mishap fifty miles from the starting point—at Ward—and although suffering from a broken small bone in the right arm, he completed his long journey in the face of, bad weather at the outset and rough roads later, l-y arriving at (ho Bluff at seven o'clock on Thursday night, the trip having been accomplished in thirtyono hours.

The test was an official one, held under tho auspices of the. North Canterbury Motor Association, the arrival and departure of tho machine at specific points on route being officially checked.

At Oamaiu. on Thursday morning, the representatives appointed to supply Mr Hinds with the necessary petrol and oil were nob ready, and he was obliged to wait for an hour and a-half. He arrived at Dunedin at 10.45 a.m. The course from Dunedin southwards was also found to be rough.- Owin# to the Kahuika River being in flood. Mr Hinds was compelled to deviate from the intended course and take the Waivvera. road. The Pukerau road, which has been a source of trouble to motorists for a considerable time, did not contribute' to the pleasure oi the trip. ■
