The whole line of the main Russian advance in the Carpathians is now in Hungarian territory, the capture of trenches on the iheight of the dominating Hill 1001 liaving brought the left wing across the frontier.'.The front extends for forty miles between two railways which cross the, Carpathians at Metzolaborcz in the west and U.szok in the east.
The Russians, wliilo awaiting.favorable weather for the advance, are fighting actions daily. They occupy ih© upper waters of a majority of the rivers running into" Hungary1. The . success il-ear Hill 1001 facilitates the conquest of the Uszok region by reducing the importance of Hill 992, which, is still in the enemy's hands.
