Dunedin, December 19. The poll for Caversham took place to day. Despite steady rain, the polling was large. Results:— Side>y ... ... 1620 Earnshaw ... .. 1515 gal]y ... ... 1120 Bedford ... ... Warren , 4 . t>> j-->2 Meikle ... \[\ 27 Majority for Sidey ... 105 The last three lorfeit their deposit. There was a large crowd at the declaration, but none of the candidates got a good hearing. Mr Earnshaw had the worst reception, and some overripe eggs were thrown at him.
