Fiiidav, May 7. The ordinary meeting held sit Invercargill was attended by the chairman (Mr G. Mc- Leod) and Messrs Maealister, MaeGibbon, Matheson, Cowie, Froggatt, Baldey, and Bain. The Executive Committee reported that the following tenders had been accepted : — Repairs and painting at Edendale, Thomas Robertson, £37 15s 3d ; same at Otama, J. E. Aldred, £33 ; same at Garston, J. E. Aldrod, £38 10s ; same at Wyodham, H. B. Nutsford, £9 2s 6d ; same at Seaward Downs, A. McCnlloeh, £11 ; and same at Ferndale, W. Farnie, £15. Messrs John McFadden and John Lyttle were appointed head teachers of the Vaipounamu and Ilaldano schools respectively. Tile Lumsden pupil teacher was granted a month's leave of absence on account of illhealth. A motion was adopted to the effect that the deficiency in the Weudon Valley teacher's salary would be paid from November 27th to December 31st, lSOii. The usual first notice was ordered to be forwarded to the Longridge Village Committee, their school being overstaffed. Owing to the decreased average attendance at the Itinui School, tho mistress was ordered to be given three mouths' notice of the reduction of her status to that of junior mistress. The following applications were granted : — Half -cost gravelling at Waihopai (the question of new furniture left in the hands of the chairman) ; repairs and painting at Balfcmr and Bimu (to be carried out in the spring) ; hal!-cost of repairs to Mimihau shelter shed; and grant towards fencing at Kingston. Applications for works from the following committees were declined :— AVaikaia, Waikawa Valley, the expenditure asked for by the laßt-mentioncd committee not being warranted by the average attendance. The architect was instructed as follows : — To report on applications from Oteramika and Kingston. The inspector was instructed to report on the Mataura Committee's application for an addition to their building. Consideration of the application for erection of teacher's residence at Wendou was held over. It was decided to close the AVendon (block 3) school on account of the reduced attendance. Consideration of the Tokonui Committee's application for a teacher's residence was held over tilljthe receipt of the architect's report. A copy of the inspector's report on the question of establishing a new school in the Kapuka district was ordered to be sent te the Oteramika Gorge Committee for their opinion on the proposal contained therein. It was decided that a copy of the inspector's report on an application for a new school in the Glenham district be forwarded to tho South Wyndham Committee. This concluded the business.
