THANKS.
TOTHH EDITOB. I Slß,— Will you kindly allow me, through tbe columns of your valuable paper, to acknowledge the practical sympathy extended ,| towards me in misfortune by the community among whom I have the good fortune to bo placed. .1 have been on Waikaka for many ! years and, have met every, kindness from my friends (*h,o, I am pleased to find, are not few when occasion requires) ;.. but the .act "of generosity to which tbis specially refers was . performed so quietly and with so little' ostentation that the good will of my friends was unmistpkeable, and their desire to render it an act of pure sympathy for a friend in trouble so manifest, that I felt do hesitation in accepting the token so kindly meant and' so generously, given . I derire, therefore, to thank most, sincerely and gratefully those gentlemen who so liberally contributed towards making my loss of time and expenses in sickness bear so lightly upon me as to be hardly felt.— l am, etc., John Baliintyhe.
