THE LYTTELTON <£fjurri) ©ommerctal &cI)qoI. HHHIS SCHOOL has now been in opera- -*- tion for nearly two months. It is a mixed School, for the present, of Boys and Girls, above the age of 6, and under. 14. The terms for the First and Second Classes are 6d. each per week, for the under Classes 3d., to be paid to the Master of the School every Monday morning in advance. The School is under the general superintendence and inspection of the Clergy, who, besides regularly teaching for a certain time each day, will examine the children periodically, in public, as well in their religious knowledge, as in their general acquirements. The History and Geography of the Old and New Testaments, the Church Catechism, Heading, Writing, and Arithmetic, Modern Geography, and Vocal Music, will form the principal subjects of instruction. The girls will also be taught needlework. The hours will be, for the future, from 9 to 12 in the morning, and from 2 to 5 in the afternoon, Saturdays excepted, which are whole holidays. There will also be holidays, of three weeks each time, at two periods of the year, besides a week at Easter. The Clergy will attend on Monday mornings, between the hours of 9 and 10, to admit new scholars, and to consult, if need be, with the parents of children already in the School. Instruction will be provided in the elements of Mechanics, Natural Philosophy, Land-Sur-veying, Mensuration, Linear and Figure Drawing. The payment of 6d. extra per week will entitle a boy or girl to instruction in any or all of these subjects. For further information apply to the Eev. B. W. Dudley, M.A., Lyttelton.
