HUTT PRIMARY PUPILS.

Some two thousand children gather;ed. on tho Hutt Recreation Ground for tho fifth annual sports of the Hutt Valley Primary Schools' Amateur Athletic Association last Friday. Conditions were perfect for the sports, with just alight, breeze and brilliant sunshine. The events were run off efficiently, at one period being an hour of time. • There was keen competition.between Hutt Central and Eastern Hutt, both of whom had.won the Hutt Valley championship twice previously, and at the ►close of the sports Hutt Central had amassed 76 points as against Eastern 'Hutt's- 63. points, thus winning the : championship for the third time. At the conclusion of the sports Mr. F. W. Moore, president of the association, apologised for the 'absence of Mr W. Nash, M.P., the. Mayor of Lower Hutt, Mr W. T. Strand, and Mr H. P. 'Kidson, principal of the Hutt Valley High School. He extended a welcome to Mr. D. McKenzie, Mayor of Petone, Mr. J. K. Edie, president of the Wellington Headmasters' Association, Mr B Kean, past president of the association, Mr W. J. Melody, who was formerly a keen worker in Hutt Valley primary school sports, Mr. J. Stone house, local member of the Education Board, and Mr. A^ Mcßain. Mr. Moore went on to congratulate the children on the keenness and sportsmanship they had shown. Their be- ! haviour had been exemplary. In congratulating the Hutt Central School, the speaker, paid tribute to the other schools which had done coniparatiely jw.ell considering their size. ■ Championship points .were awarded as follows:—Hutt Central, 7(5; Eastern •Hutt 63; Petone Central 26; Waiwetu, 25; Randwick 24; Boulcott lot; Wilford, 15; Upper Hutt, 12; Petone West "; Silverstream, 6; Trentham, 3; Taita 3; Bpuni, 2; Hutt Convent 0; Koro •Koro 0. In the results, the abbreviations for the schools are as follows:—Petone. West (P.W); Petone Central (P.C); Wilford, (Wil.); Randwick (R); Waiwetu, (Wai); Hutt Central (H.C); Eastern Hutt (E.H); Epuni (Ep); .Bouleott (B); Taita (Tai); Silver' stream (S); Trentham (Tr.); Upper Hutt (U.H); Hutt Convent (H.Con).
