The Late General Feilding.

We have been shown a very hand* somely mounted lithographed epitome of the late General Feilding's career, and as it may interest many of our readers we reproduce the same, which is as follows : — "General the Hon, William Henry Adelbert Feilding ; born January 1836 ; son of the 7th Earl of Denbigh ; Godson of King William 4th ; Godson and page of Honour to Queen Adelaide. Though a marked man in Ireland, he refused all police protection, and went everywhere openly an unarmed. In 1871, went to New Zealand in connection with the Colonists' Land and Loan Corporation, and founded the town of Feilding — named by the Government after him, and now one of the most flourishing settlements in the colony ; 1880-81 at the request of the Queensland Government, he organised and conducted an expedition from Brisbane to the Point Parker, N.W. of Gulf Carpentaria, to advise on the possibility of opening up the country by rail. His survey on foot and ou horse back extended over 1400 miles and took six months. In 1885 the Sultan of Johore appointed him chairman of his Advisory Board in England. Married Charlotte, daughter of Sir Baldwyn Leighton, 7th Bart. Died at Bangkok, Siam, of cholera, 25th March, 1895, and was buried with full military honours by order of the King of Siam." It is the property of Mrs F. Towler, to whom Lady Feilding sent the epi tome of the late General's career, and was lithographed in Wellington, Mr J. Williamson framed it in a neat guilt frame. In this connection we may mention that a large oil portrait of the late General is on its way to Feilding to be placed in any public hall oc room that is chosen for it, but this will be decided when f;he picture arrives.
