NEWCASTLE RELAY STATION

At the end of this month 2J\fO, tho new relay station at Newcastle, will be on tho air. Situated at Beresfovd, an elevated position twelve miles from Newcastle, 2NC will havo a wave-length of 241 metres. Eadio reception in and around Newcastle has not been all that it should be. In the day-time reception is very satisfactory, but at night it is bad, owing to fading due to night distortion. The relay station will solve the problem, and one of the outcomes of 2NC will be that for a distance of twenty-five miles, good crystal reception will be possible, over an area containing about 200,000 people. The programmes from 2NC, which will be relayed through either 2FC or 2BL, will be from the best talent available in Newcastle. Amongst local talent there are the Newcastle Symphony Orchestra, tho Newcastle Steel Works Band, the Newcastle Choral Society, and the Newcastle Eevellers.
