Saturday, the Government; Astronomer, Mr. Curlowis, said that it was evident that a severe dislocation in.the ocean floor occurred about 400 miles west of North-west Cape. The seismograph boom swung over six inches* which is a very large displacement. It: was the most severe earthquake reported within, a 1000 miles of Perth. lit 1906 a similar seaquake jarred the steamer Omrah throughout her wholef length when she vwas 400 miles from' North-west Cape.
