Motor Koad to Milford,
Tho advisability of constructing a motor road from Invercargill to within Bix miles of Milford Sound, via Te Anau Downs'; station, the Eglinton Eiver, and the Hollyford Valley was urged by; Mr,' A. H. Coekburn at the Southland League .Conference (states the "Southland Times"). He suggested that' a tunnel, should be constructed through the; Gertrude saddle; This funnel would be the link between all the wonderful tourist attractions of Southland. Mr. Adam Hamilton, M.P., said that he was pleased to hear such ah enterprising suggestion. There- was no knowing how rapidly the county would be developed. .: ,«;. "All Making Good." Arrowtown is the birthplace of the; Minister <if Internal Affairs (Mr.- P. A ; de la Perrelle), who is at present in Dunedin (states the "Otago Daily Times» J)i; On Saturday afternoon the Minister received a surprise visit from several, of Ms school fellows and former friends of "Arrow," now resident in the Otago Prpvinco, who warmly congratulated Mr. de la Perrelle on his elevation to Ministerial rank, and the hope was expressed that he; would be long spared to carry out the important duties allotted- to him. In replying, the Minister said that the,impromptu meeting gave him a great deal of pleasure.
