The town of Mahmudivah, fifteen miles south of Bagdad, is submerged, with heavy loss of life. The river wall has been broken at JSasiryah and Hindyah, where a vast area of land has been converted into an inland sea. Breaks are feared between Shaibah and Basra, thus inundating tho Imperial Airways and \ir l'orccs aerodromes at Shaibah.
