THREE SUCCESSFUL ASCENTS. By Telegraph.— Press Association.—Copyright. MELBOURNE, 18th March. The first aerial flight in Australia was accomplished by Houdini, a mu&ic-hall performer. He used a Voisin biplane, weighing 14001b, with a 68 h.p. petrol engine. The trial took place at Digger's Eest, three ascents being made. In the first, he covered a mile in a little over v minute at a height of 40ft. In the second he went up 100 ft, andremained in the air three minutes. "In the third flight, he covered three miles in a little over four minutes. The machine descended gracefully and gently to the earth.
