The New Zealand Cricket Council mot to consider the financing of the Australian team and consider the replies of associations as to whether they were prepared to give guarantees if a pooling system was abandoned in favour of each association paying the expenses of its match and appropriating any profits. Auckland replied strongly against the pooling system, Otago and North Taranaki approved pooling, Canterbury, Buller, and Nelson declined to give a guarantee unless pooling was adhered to, Marlborough stated if it gave 'a guarantee it would be on the understanding that it retained all profits. Rangitikei preferred pooling, but would give a guarantee in any case. Wanganui agreed to pay the guarantee and take the profits. The secretary reported that no reply had been received to his cable sent to the Board of Control, and it was resolved that the following cable be sent to the board : — "Must have immediate reply by cable or arrangements may fall through."
