FOOTBALL " SOCIAL."
After the inter-provincial game at Miramar under Australian rules, on Saturday afternoon, the Canterbury representatives were entertained by the local association at a smoke "social" in the New Century Hall, Kent-terrace. The chair was occupied by Mr. B. Sandford. Several toasts were honoured and a short musical programme was given. The team to represent the Dominion at tho coming Jubilee Carnival in Melbourne was chosen during the evening. The following is the personnel of the party : George, Lording, Monteith, Marshall, Tongue, Fletcher, Abfather (Auckland), Elvidge, Darby, and Swau (Waihi), Dempster, Wright, West, Wilkins, Porter, Fisher, Paisley, Ross (Canterbury), Bond, Furniss, M'Grath, Patrick, and Paul (Wellington). Emergencies : Burns (Wellington), Breese, and Welch (Auckland), and Smith (Christchurch). The Canterbury team, which was managed by Mr. H. Witcher, returned south on Saturday evening.
