THE ITALIAN CRUISER CALABRIA. ARRIVAL IN WELLINGTON.
The Italian cruiser Calabria, in charra of Commander E. Maronco, and having on board His Royal Highness the Prince of Undine,, arrived from Suva shortly after 9 o'clock this^norning. On entering the stream she fired a salute of twen-ty-one guns, which was responded to by a salute of twenty-one guns from Pipitea Point. Mr. Roland T. Robertson, Consular Agent for Italy, boarded tho warship soon after arrival, and when leaving for shore was salvtcd by the firing of five guns. The Calabria left Italy for a cruise ,of the world on the 4th*Febiuary. She went direct to Buenos Ayres, and then visited ftio Janeiro, Monto Video, Lima, Valparaiso, Callao, Acapulco, and the Northern Pacific coast. Last month she was in San Francisco, and camo on to New Zealand via Suva, fair weather and south-west winds being experienced ftom the latter port. She will probably remain in Wellington for about five dnys, aud afterwards pay a visit to Australian ports, Borneo, Java, Philippines, China, Japan, and India, returning to Italy via the Suez Cnnal. The Calabria is a third-class steel-built, twin-screw cruisei of 2442 tons displacement, and was built in 1894 ot Spozia(ltaly). Her armament consists of four 5.9 in quick-firers, six 4.7 in, one 2.9 iii, eight 2.2 in, eight I.4in, and two Maxim guns. ______________
