1 The annual meeting of tho Petono Lawn Tennis Club was held last evening, Mr. R. C. Kirk presiding. The reporb congratulated members upon the improved position and the increase of members. After reviewing the play and matches oi the past seaspn, thanks of the club were ] 1 recorded as' due to Mr. R. C. Kirk for his donation and use of his office for , committee meetings during the year ; and to Mr. Gibbons for his valuable assistance, in supervising the laying down of ' the new courts. The purchase by tho , club of tho freehold of the courts and the , extensive improvements that have been 1 made promised to mark a new era in , tennis circles in Petone. The finances showed a small debit of £2 4s 3d. The , report and balance-sheet were adopted. The following were elected io various offices for the ensuing term: — President, Mr. R, C. Kirk; Vice-Presidents, Dis. Ross and Perry, and Mr. T. Price ; Committee, Messrs. J. H. Gibbons, F. London, L. Apliiv, Reid, and Connelly ; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr. P. 11. Jackson ; Auditor, Mr. Greatbatch ; • Delegate to Association, Mr. P. H,'Jackson. It was decided, in view of -recent expenses, to fix the annual " subscription at 30s for gentlemen and 103 for $adks, and that as » soon as the 'membership numbers sixty, an entrant* fee of It's be charged to playing members! A committee of ladies was set up whose duties are to arrange for the reception: - and entertaining of visitors, and -the ing of afternoon tea. ' ' ' . It was decided that the club shall' take part in association matches, and'thaftho season shall open on Bth Novcnjber. A trophy given last season foi* » the player showing the most improvement in play was awarded to Mr. R. C. Kirk, who moved that the value £1 Is' should be handed over to Uie ground committee.
