SEIZURE OF SMUGGLED SPIRITS AT LUCAS'S CREEK HOTEL.

Another seizure of illicit spirits was made yesterday morning. On Thursday evening, between five and six o'clock, Captain Williams and Mr, Hughson, of tbe Customs, with Sergeant Jervis, of the Water Police, and a boat's crew, went over to Gallagher 1 ! Hotel, at Stokei's Point, A strict search of the hotel and vicinity was made, but nothing contraband was found. Mr. Gallagher gave every assistance to the officer! in making the search. The boat wai then pulled up to Lucas's Creek, where a landing was made, and the party camped all night on the beach. At daylight they proceeded to Montgomery 1 ! hotel, and searched the building without finding any illicit •pirits, but upon entering a detached itore they found one quarter-cask of brandy, and two hogsheads of whiskey, which the Customs officer clearly identified as being illicit, and part of the cargo of tho schooner 'St. Kilda.' Mr. Montgomery, the officers were informed, war out with a vurvey party, but wai expected home in a day or two. The spiiiti Heized were brought over to A uokland. Yesterday, search was made in several public houses in the city and suburbs for smuggled spirits, but nothing contraband was found on any of the premises.
