During the past week there have beenfonr vessels arrived in harbour from foreign porti, bringing supplies of groin and flour; but coastwise there has been a noticeable absence of receipts. Thes." 'Alexandra' and 'Fanny,' both from Melbourne, broaght the following :— 648 bags flour, 544 bag* wheat, 1,277 bag* oats; 480 bags rice, 10 barrels Hud 10 bags oatmeal, 3 sacks groats. By the ' Mary Ann,' from Hobnrt Town, were received 275 bags flour, 89 bag* oats; and per 'Ann and Jane,' from Adelaide, 100 tous flour.

There is published in it;-r- Atclegraphicdesp&tch from General Cameron, announcing that the "Queen's flag is flying at Ngaruawuhia; a proclamation from the Superintendent of Otngo, admitting cuttle into that province from a certain portion of the county of Mnriiington, Victoria ; an act passed by the Imperial Pailiiuneufc, intilttled, "An Act to Amend the PusHenger Act, 1855." It is announced that William Jarvis Willis, Esq., is appointed a .Resident Magistrate under the " Native Circuit Courts Act, of 1858"; and that the Rev. James Stirling Muir is a[ipoiuted an officiating minister under the Marriage Act. A schedule of land orders ready for issue under the " Pensioners' Claims Act, of 1S61"; and a schedule of claims to land under tli* New Zealaud Company, and which have been investigated and found value to the extent of the land described, are published. Lastly, there are published a number of bal.mce sheets of intestates 1 estates ; the deceased*' names being Robert Torreim, George Evans Curpby, Thomas Fidge, Jouiab. Hopkins, Duncan McCaul, William Kobinsou. Tho remainder of the notifications refer to the other provinces. The Waitara Question.— A dihcussiou took placo in the Legislative Council and tho House of .Representatives, yesterday, on the Waitara question. In th« Council, Dr. Menzies motion, nffirmine that, after a careful consideration of his Exes'* lency's despatch to the Secretary "of State of the 26th Octobur, and the enclosure, the Council deemed it unnecessary to reconsider the resolutions passed on the 4th December, was adopted. A resolution to the following effect was passed in tho House of Representatives, on the motiou of Mr. Stafford, viz., that the House having Teceived his Excellency's message, did not wish to express any opinion on the accuracy oa inaccuracy of his Excellency's statement, but did not express its dissent from tho statements made by the natives of the came of tho quarrel, and tho injustice of employing military force. The Bill for fentahlisliing a High Court of Enquiry into the same subject was thrown out of the Legislative Council, on the motion of Mr. Gilfillan. We hold over our report of the discussion until Monday.
