INCH CLUTHA RIVER AND ROAD - BOARD.

«rr - The ordinary meeting of the above . Board was held in Houlston's hotel, Stir- . ling, on Friday evening. There were pre- . sent — Messrs P. Lawson, Willocks, and Smaill. In the absence of the chairman, Mr Lawson was voted to the chair. The minutes of the previous ..meeting : were read and confirmed. •*. A letter was received from the Colonial Secretary's office, Wellington, of date the - 10th February, informing the Board that . a notification of the. appointment of the • Trustees of the Inch Olutha River and Road Board Sinking Fund was published in the Gazette of the 9th inst. , and requesting the Board to advise the Trustees . of their appointment. — The Clerk was in- - structed to inform them accordingly, and t arrange for the placing of MOO to the • Sinking Fund. . • • A letter was read from several settlers ; resident at the lower end of the Island,. . referring to the state of cross road near Mr Cameron.'s, between blocks I. and 11. , „ the same not being passable for heavy wheeled traffic. They requested the ~ Board to have the repairs executed.— lt j was resolved that Mr Smaill be empowered.-. i to carry out the necessary repairs. A memorial was received from' Messrs >. Gregg and Co. and other settlers at theupper part of the Island, drawing the. ■ Board's attention to the serious - inoon-. . venience they are subject to by the river- . side road along Mr Anderson's property - having been washed - away, and asking : that the Board take steps to give .access „ to their properties. • • • It was moved by Mr Willocks, and- se- . conded by Mr • Smaill—" That Messrs. Lawson, and., Willocks be empowered to . treat with Mr, Anderson for the purchase . of. a, road." — Carried. '; The Clerk was-... instructed.; to coriiinunicate .with ,the Board's solicitor with refer- ~ ence to the transfer of road from Mi? -.W. A. Mosley to 'the Board. . ' The Clerk was instructed to request., Messrs James Bell, Sinclair and James -, Wright, to remove the gates and other obstructions from , off roadline between Blocks 11. and V., Inch Olutha* District,, within seven days from the date of notice ;-. otherwise the. Board would take atitioß, 4 for the removal of same. • The Clerk was instructed to. prepare > specifications for repairs to approaches at .-. Matau Bridge.
