RICHMOND BURGESSES
j MONTHLY MEETING Tiie monthly meeting of the Richmond Burgesses' Association was held last evening, Mr S. W. Richardson presiding. The chairman reported that the act-ing-manager of the Christchureh Tramway Board had promised to look into the over-crowding of trams • during rush hours in the Richmond district. It was decided to approve a motion mhmitted by the United Burgesses Association supporting the demand for an increase of 10s weekly to relief workers, and those on sustenance.
A request from the Spreydon Burgesses' Association was received, that support; be given to the motion passed by it that the sewer rates be more equitably distributed over the whole of the drainage area, by the consolidation of all loans. The opinion of the meeting was that consolidation was impossible, and that any adjustment would be unfair to districts who had paid ofl' their loans. Messrs S. W. Richardson and J. Rowe were aopointed delegates to meet representatives of thr Snrevdon Ass^e'nt'on.
It was resolved to ask the City Council to change the name of Freeman street to Poulton avenue.
It was decided to ask Mr B. O. Priddis, president of the Returned Soldiers' Association, to plant a tree on Arbor Day, in the Richmond children's playground, in memory of past pupils of the Richmond School, who fell in the Great War. Messrs S. W. Richardson. S. B. Smith. T. F. Poulton, and A. T. Blackweli were appointed to make arrangements.
